Bracketologists meet biologists in 2020 MMM
No need to lament missing March Madness when you are in the thick of it with March Mammal Madness!
Round 2 of Double Trouble and AnthropoSCENE is playing out at this very moment!
MMM is just like the annual college basketball tournament (RIP) but it features animals. Every year each division has a theme and in the early rounds the battle plays out in the higher-ranked animal's home ecosystem. Just like the basketball tournament, there are always upsets and controversies, but the results are determined by scientists.
Besides the thrill of the fight, my favorite part so far is learning about new species. As a one-time zoo docent, I thought I knew a fair amount about animals, but this year's tournament has featured a bunch of critters that I knew nothing about. For example...

As for my pick to take this year's title, I gotta go with my boy...
