Upcoming data science course from youcubed

A new data science course from youcubed, the innovative mathematics education group headed by Stanford professor Jo Boaler, has been announced in their latest newsletter.

The six-part course is designed for all K-12 teachers, even those who do not teach math. It's slated to begin in July and will be offered for free. You can see a course overview and sign up to receive more information here.

The course is an extension of the partnership between Boaler and Steve Levitt, of the University of Chicago. I wrote about their work in a post last month. The following video, shot during an education summit at Stanford in February of this year, gives a good overview of the efforts to elevate data science to a more prominent position in US schools.

Also coming soon from youcubed is a data science curriculum for high school students and data sciences lessons for grades 6-10.
