Venerable podcast Receives inaugural prize for audio journalism

This American Life, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, was awarded the first-ever Pulitzer Prize for audio journalism. They won for their episode "The Out Crowd," which first aired last November. "The Out Crowd" features three stories about the impact of the Trump administration's "Remain in Mexico" program.

I have been a huge This American Life fan for years, long before it became a podcast and was "just" a show on public radio, so I couldn't be happier. Their oeuvre includes over 700 episodes and is the standard by which I judge all other podcasts. Here's a link to their archive, which is searchable by year, topic, and contributor.

Ira Glass, This American Life's host and executive producer, wrote an announcement about the award, "We Just Won the First Ever Pulitzer Prize for Audio Journalism!"
